President James Monroe and his wife, Elizabeth, took great pleasure in entertaining guests at Ash Lawn-Highland. For a day, an afternoon, or an evening, you can make Ash Lawn-Highland your home, and extend to your guests the same hospitality customarily bestowed upon Highland guests for over two hundred years.

Facilities available for rent include the Pavilion with serving kitchen and two dressing rooms (seats up to 400 for meals and 500 for speakers), the Conference Room with kitchen and patio (seats 60 for meals, 90 for speakers), the various boxwood gardens, and, for very small groups, the Monroe House and its 1880's addition. Two tents (measuring 30' X 45', and 20' X 20') are also available for use on the grounds. Side curtains are available for the Pavilion and for all tents. These facilities may be rented individually or jointly depending on the event and renter's needs. The Conference Room and Pavilion are not available from the end of June through the beginning of August.

Arts, education, civic, religious, and private groups can rent space upon availability. Rehearsal/Recital Hall can accommodate 125 people seated and 150 reception style. It has a Steinway 6' grand piano available for use. The General Purpose Room can accommodate 40 people seated and 50 reception style. It has a Yamaha console piano. Parking is available.

The farm's prime facilities include a fourteen stall barn, horse ring, nine outdoor holding/display pens, a heated sale barn with bleachers, plus picnic areas and ample parking. Social and meeting facilities include: the Mansion (can accommodate 200 guests in six rooms, including the elegant ballroom), the Brick House Inn (provides both lodging with four guest rooms and private function space for small groups, under 50), the Carriage House (accommodates up to 200 seated guests). Located in the heart of downtown featuring three unique meeting spaces: the Molloy Room for intimate gatherings (seat 10), the Beacon Hill Room a more formal meeting space and outfitted with videoconferencing equipment (seats 22 people), the McLean Sun Porch an informal meeting room designed with Southern country style (seats between 25 and 45). In addition to the main restaurant, Starr Hill has two spaces available for private functions. The Art Gallery, featuring rotating exhibits during the day, is transformed into a private dining room in the evenings. The Gallery can accommodate up to 100 people for cocktail events, and up to 60 people for sit-down dinners. The Music Hall is also available for larger private parties.
