NRAO Astronomy Festival & Open House

Description: The National Radio Astronomy Observatory invites families, students, teachers, and the general public to its annual Astronomy Festival and Open House on Sunday, October 11th, 2009 from 11 am to 4 pm. Learn about the universe and how the NRAO�s telescopes, the largest in the world, are revealing its secrets. There will be science and technology presentations, demonstrations, exhibits and hands-on activities for all ages. The University of Virginia�s nearby McCormick Observatory will be open for viewing of Jupiter in the evening from 7-9 pm, weather permitting.
Admission is free, as is parking.
The event takes place at our headquarters building on the University of Virginia grounds at 520 Edgemont Road. (Please note that this is NOT the same as our U.S. Route 250 Ivy Road Technology Center).
