Alexander House is comfortable inn/hostel situated in a beautifully-restored 3-bedroom near historic Downtown Charlottesville. We are convenient to restaurants, shopping and local attractions. There are 7 beds (4 twin and 3 double) with a shared modern bathroom. We are on call to welcome visitors at any time, with free pickup from Amtrak or Greyhound and an economical airport shuttle. Linens are provided, and Continental breakfast is included at no additional charge. Car rental is available, though we are situated accessible for pedestrian access and public transportation for many destinations. We have a sunroom with a dining table that seats 6, a private back yard and a congenial front porch. The entire house is available for group rental, accommodating 7 to 10 people. We cannot allow smoking or pets. Alexander House is suited for children 6 years of age and over. Payment in cash or traveler's checks -- we are not yet equipped for credit cards.

Rates: Room 1, with two bunk beds for men or women, but not at the same time: $30. Room 2, Semi-private with two single beds, $30. Room 3, Private (one double bed) $60. We strongly recommend advance reservations.

Extras: walking distance to the Downtown Mall (beautiful, pedestrian only!), bikes, kitchen, free pickup from train or bus, economical rates for airport pickup, bike and luggage storage, off street motorcycle parking, car rental, porch and sunroom, grocery, restaurants / bistros, easy access to University, no lockout. With everything on one floor, we are handicapped-accessible.
